Are the Holidays Stressing You Out (Again)? – How to limit stress and enjoy them instead

The holidays can be stressful enough when you feel well – planning, shopping, wrapping, visiting relatives and friends, parties to attend, holiday events at your kid’s schools, it’s a lot. But when you live in chronic pain with conditions like migraines or fibromyalgia, they can become unbearable.

You can easily get wrapped up in everything going on that you become too busy to take care of what’s important. Your health – physical and mental.

Take the time you need for yourself even if it means saying no to events or gatherings you are invited to and even if it means saying no to tasks other people “need” you to do. That is an emergency on their part, not yours. If you don’t set boundaries, you can easily be busy every minute of the day till New Years.

Be mindful of your nutrition. Food is our fuel and without proper fuel you may find yourself catching a cold or flu. Then you are out for the count anyway and are not help to anyone, nor will you be there to enjoy the wonderful parts of all of it.

Exercise – moving your body makes you feel better, and it increases your overall immune system response.

Go get adjusted – We cannot stress this enough – your nervous system needs to be working properly for you to feel well. That includes the ability to deal with stress.
