True or False? Once You Go to a Chiropractor You Have to Keep Going All of the Time

Oddly, this misdirected belief has been around for a very long time and keeps on being revisited. Many mistakenly believe that once you go and get adjusted you are stuck in a loop and have to keep coming back in order to feel well.
The truth is you can go to a chiropractor once, twice, or weekly for the rest of your life. It will only serve to benefit your health, but it will not be detrimental if you had one issue, got that resolved and never came back again.

Think of chiropractic the way you do a prescription from your medical doctor. They give you an assigned length of time to finish a course of treatment – antibiotics are a good example. “Take 1 pill twice a day for 2 weeks.” At the end of that treatment your infection should be cleared up. There would be no reason to revisit that once you feel better.

Chiropractic works much in the same format. For example, say you threw your lower back out. The chiropractor will recommend that you come in for a set number of appointments and that you re-evaluate at the end of that. If at that time you are feeling normal again, the treatment may be over. It will likely be recommended that you follow up every month for preventative maintenance, but that is a choice you can make yourself. Should you choose not to return it will do no harm.

Chiropractic is a modality that is very flexible. While we recommend for your best health to visit regularly, that choice is totally up to you. At the office of Kaster Chiropractic in Fort Myers, Florida we are always here for you when you need us.
