Migraine and Chiropractic – Stop the Cycle of Suffering

Migraine headaches suck the life out of you. They take you away from your daily life, work, and family forcing you to lay down away from noise and light.

When this becomes a repetitive cycle of pain it can affect your ability to interact with others and for some even lead to lessening of income or even job loss. Migraine pain can range from mild to severe and from occasional to daily.

Migraine headaches cause throbbing or pulsing pains usually on one side of the head. They may be accompanied by nausea, vomiting, and sensitivity to sound and light. They may last a few hours or a few days. Triggers may include hormonal imbalances, dietary foods, physical issues, and even emotional stress.

No matter how often you experience migraine headaches, it is too often.

There is help.

There are numerous migraine medications and treatments on the market. Not every treatment works on every person. With prescriptions there are often unwanted side effects. This causes sufferers to seek alternative options. These alternative treatments may include biofeedback, acupuncture, herbs, specialized diets, relaxation methods, massage (specifically trigger point therapy), and chiropractic treatment.

Chiropractic has been shown to help reduce or eliminate migraine pain in many.

Adjusting the spine with a focus on the neck region can realign subluxations. When in proper alignment blood flow is restored throughout the area including to the brain itself. Electrical impulses may have been stifled in the nervous system and will begin to reconnect and signal again. This in itself often allows the body to feel better and begin healing.  It has been shown to reduce pain, duration, frequency, and intensity of migraine and in many cases eliminate them all together.

It is important to follow the adjustment schedule laid out by your chiropractor and do any assigned at home exercises or stretches for optimal results.
