It can be tough when you move to a new town or city – you have to start over and find yourself a new dentist, hair stylist, doctor, massage therapist, chiropractor and much more.
When searching out a new Chiropractor it is important to ascertain if your potential new doctor of chiropractic fits your style of patient service. Surprisingly these days, many will not.
While old-school chiropractors are still in the majority, meaning that they see one patient privately at a time, taking their time – listening to symptoms, aches, pains and improvements at each appointment – going from there and customizing the treatment plan based on the client, there are also many from a new school of thought which seems like assembly line chiropractic, if I may coin a term.
What I mean by assembly line chiropractic is that at the initial visit it is more of a sales presentation than a medical consultation. They give you a long speech on the importance of chiropractic and may scan your spine and even do an X-ray so that they are able to point out directly what your particular issues may be. While these are areas that likely need to be worked on, the truth is there is no magical number of sessions anyone can sell you in a package and guarantee you will feel better at the end of them.
This model of clinic is based more on volume and numbers than on individualized patient care. If you sit in the waiting room (often times it is not even separate and you are in the same room with others being adjusted) and watch, you will see the exact same adjustments done person after person. While these adjustments are often helpful, it is very unlikely that a whole days worth of patients all had the same subluxations.
Look for a doctor who listens. A doctor you feel like you can connect with and communicate effectively with. Mostly, listen to your body. How do you feel after an adjustment or two? Do you feel like you are making progress and healing? If so, great! If not – you may want to revisit and consider other options.
At the office of Doctor Jason Kaster, D.C. we consider ourselves “Old School”. We believe that patient care comes before pure profit and if your appointment takes a little longer because you need the care, we are more than happy to provide it.
Give us a call today to schedule a consultation and adjustment. Your body will thank you!
