Caring Naturally for an Ear Infection

Earaches are one pain that is particularly hard to ignore. It distracts you from even being able to think clearly. Your head and ear just plain hurt.

Most of us, over the years, have experienced an ear infection. Most children in 2019 will have one before they turn three.  Ear infections are caused by a bacterial or viral infection that can happen in the outer, middle, or inner ear. Ear infections happen when the eustachian tubes become swollen. This blocks them causing a fluid build-up.

Symptoms may include fever, pain, loss of hearing, dizziness, and feeling off-balance.

This ailment can be painful and particularly hard on little children age 5 and under as they can’t fully express what they are going through.

Many of us may automatically think “my child needs antibiotics”. They aren’t always the best answer and overusing them can lead to resistance so that they may not work as well or at all down the road at a time they are really needed.

One of the top at-home remedies which work wonders for ear infections is garlic oil!

This cheap and easy remedy has been used for hundreds of years. Thanks to modern vitamins it has never been so easy.

What you need:

  • Garlic Oil Capsules
  • Cotton balls
  • A Heat Pack
  • A tack or pin

Directions:

Microwave the heat pack according to its specific directions until warm. Laying on the opposite side from the ear that hurts, take 1 garlic oil soft gel capsule and poke it with a pin. Once there is a hole in the capsule, squeeze the liquid contents into the ear allowing it to sink down into the canal. Take 1 cotton ball and push it very gently into place like an earplug just enough to keep the oil from leaking out.

Rest. Lay there for a minimum of 20 to 30 minutes. The longer the better. Take the heat pack and place it over your ear and head – where ever it hurts.

Repeat as necessary. Garlic is a natural antibiotic and the heat is very soothing. It will help you heal and get some relief.

Can Chiropractic Care Help with Ear Infections?

Surprisingly, yes, chiropractic can be a fantastic way to relieve pain caused by an ear infection. It’s possible that manipulating the neck will help drain the ear by stretching the eustachian tube that runs from the ear to the neck.

Chiropractic adjustments reduce joint restrictions or misalignments in the spine and other joints in the body in an effort to reduce inflammation and improve the function of both the affected joint and nervous system.
