Am I In Too Much Pain To Be Adjusted by a Chiropractor?

Living in pain makes life miserable. You may believe that you are in too much pain to allow an adjustment. While there is that small possibility, you may be surprised at how painless and how much relief realignment can bring. It’s in your best interest not to jump the gun and make this assumption.

Going to a chiropractor for the first visit they will get your medical history, find out from you what has been going on health-wise, do any diagnostics necessary, and lay out a suggested treatment plan before they ever actually adjust you. You will have all of the information before anything is ever touched so there is plenty of time to decide and you will have full education and knowledge of what is to be done.

Subluxations (misalignments) can cause inflammation, swelling, and pain. When your body becomes properly aligned what it does is allows your nervous system to function as well as possible again. This helps every organ in the body as well as surrounding tissue, muscle, tendons, and ligaments.

When you have been injured trauma will create inflammation. From inflammation comes pain. It may seem counter-intuitive to manually adjust something that hurts, but once back in place your body can only then begin to heal properly. This will lead to less pain, swelling, and a reduction in the inflammatory response.

Leaving your spine out of alignment opens you to the potential for incorrect healing. Meaning, your body will always overcompensate for misalignments. It can heal the wrong way. This means down the line having to adjust it back again anyway which will bring about a healing crisis and more pain during that phase.

Think of it in more simple terms. Say you broke a bone. Would you prefer to go to the ER and have it reset so it can heal correctly? Or just leave it alone and hope for the best? – Of course, you would seek medical attention, no one wants an incorrectly healed bone or worse have it heal so badly that it needed to be re-broken in order to correctly set it later.
